Kanpeki na arashi - 4

Hizashi/els AU
_

After they had packed up their camp in the morning, Hizashi sniffed the air and pointed off in the distance. Several thin columns of smoke could be seen through the trees along the bank, indicating a village was nearby.

"We should eat a good breakfast so we can head out towards shelter for later. It's going to rain."

"Oh?"

Elly was having trouble this first morning. Her captor had allowed her some privacy for a bathroom break, yet she hadn't eaten for a day and could barely stand. For some reason Aizawa had not broken the food out, and Hizashi had a cold feeling in the pit of his stomach.

"Yeah." He shrugged. "My cousins are probably going to have fun with this one, too. It smells like it might be a good one." He looked up at the sky wistfully.

"I'm not hungry this morning. I think we can wait, especially if this storm will ne as bad as you say. Let's go." He led the way towards the signs of a village. Hizashi winced as Elly dropped to one knee behind them, already unable to keep up. The human didn't stop walking, and she soon cried out as the distance between them grew too great.

"Is something bothering you?" Aizawa calmly stood while she limped feebly back to him, tears squeezing out of the corners of her eyes in pain and rage.

"You've never been this cruel before with one of your captures. Just stop."

Elly had gotten close enough for the charm to work and she collapsed on the ground, panting. Aizawa took a very long, hard look at the thunder demon and stepped back once.

"Bastard!" With that small amount of distance she was forced to struggle forward again, this time crawling straight through a small, muddy puddle.

"Look," Hizashi said as calmly as he could, "I get it. You're testing me. But for what? I've <i>never</i> been loyal to you. Hurting Elly doesn't change that. You knew this." He cast another glance down at the cat demon, who was starting to snarl as her tormentor moved back again. "All you're doing is proving her point. Humans are cruel."

"Hih ...zashi." She reached out, one grimy, mud-crusted hand trembling, furious, frightened and unable to go on while the pain wracked her body. "<i>Hurts</i>..."

"Damn you!" Electricity sparkled about the thunder demon's body, thin bolts that nonetheless lit up the area for several feet around them. The spirals in his eyes thinned and the green grew darker, red tinting around the edges of the irises. He grit his teeth and lunged at the woman clawing tiredly at the ground, ignoring his own agony as his cuffs activated. He pulled her forward quickly into his arms and close to the demon hunter. They collapsed in a heap, Hizashi once more cradling her close despite the mess.

The human nodded. "I thought as much." He dusted off his knees and started walking again. Hizashi had no choice but to carry the cat demon as she was too weak to move. Her striped tail hung over one of his arms as she lay feebly with her eyes closed. She was, however, frowning in the last bit of defiance she could show.

"What did you prove? That I, the <i>demon</i> you enslaved because I'm <i>evil</i>, don't believe in abusing people?"

Aizawa glanced back over his shoulder. "Demons aren't people," he said coldly.

"You realize you're including yourself."

"I'm only half demon, but yes. That's why I need to work harder towards my goal."
