Kanpeki na arashi - 10

"Why ... didn't they..." He coughed up blood and absentmindedly wiped his mouth with his arm. "Why not take us?"

"They're simple minded people. Take the weaker one; she was who they wanted. I assume they thought you were disabled and I wasn't a threat." They moved as fast as they could towards the village. Hizashi had been wounded but he pushed himself as hard as he could. Unfortunately the mob got far ahead of them as the human had, for once, to help the demon. They hobbled along with the dark haired man supporting the pale, tattooed figure as he clutched his side and forced his legs to move.

"N - not a threat. Ha."

"You aren't if you're bound. And you heal slower." He seemed to be considering something.

They stumbled atop a hill overlooking the village and froze in horror at the scene. The people had dragged her into the middle of their tiny town and flung her, bound tightly and bleeding, on a large, flat stone. As they watched she managed to roll over in an attempt protect her stomach. It probably wouldn't help since the villagers intent was clear from the number of torches beginning to accumulate in their fists. Hizashi let out a terrible, stragled cry. Before he could try to run in by himself again Aizawa grasped the cuffs on his wrists. They snapped open and fell to the ground with a bell like ringing sound.

"You're free. Protect her."

The irises of Hizashi's eyes bled from green to red as he watched the humans raising their weapons and fire on the bound bundle in the middle of the square. He threw his arms back and grimly, deliberately began to swell. As Elly had transformed when Aizawa had caught her, he also changed. The difference was size and power. Elly was seen as a terror, a minor disturbance that humans scared each other with on cold, winter nights in tales around the fire. Hizashi, however, was looked at as a god.

The townspeople cried out in fear as the clouds overhead churned furiously, roiling in angry, black thunderheads. Lightning crackled in the air, and for good reason for it came directly from between the towering thunder demon's clenched fists.  The deluge struck and they ran as one, fleeing to what little cover their homes provided. Elly was left alone on the stone slab and he zipped in thunderbolt form to get to her as quick as possible and free her bonds. The current burnt through the crude ropes in a moment and Hizashi was back to his more unassuming form as he picked her up.

Aizawa limped forward, shielding his face from the rain with one hand. Hizashi held her out mutely, his green eyes stricken at her agony.

"Here." He touched the collar and it snapped off just as the cuffs had. She coughed, shaking, and threw her arms around her mate's neck.

"Let's get out of here."

"Hizashi." Aizawa pointed back at the village. The downpour was still sluicing off the houses and frightening livestock in the gated fields.

He sniffed. "Five more minutes." He held his trembling woman in his arms, his voice like steel. "It won't hurt them, but they'll remember it."

He nodded. "Yes. They will."
