The Dare (Hizashi)

"Honestly, Yamada, I thought you two would be history by now." Midnight shrugged carelessly and closed her locker. "Right, Eraser?"

"Leave me out of this," came the flat reply.

"That's just mean," Mic said angrily. "You diss me a lot, Midnight, but you better not be suggestin' I don't treat my babygirl with the best of the best of the <i>best</i> - including romance!"

"Then prove it." She poked him in the chest with a bright red nail. "Make her ab-so-lutely <i>putty</i> in your hands today."

"At school?!"

"Yeah, school. We're all here, so we're witnesses. What's the matter? Can't do it?"

He scowled, slamming the metal door closed on his locker. "Yer on. In fact, freakin' time me. I bet you won't believe it."

<b>7:00 A.M</b>
<i>Classes (and the challenge) begin</i>.

Elly yawned and snapped on the light to her office. Her nose tested the air delicately, detecting the scent of her favorite coffee. A fresh, steaming cup was on her desk from that one place nearby her boyfriend knew she loved. She smiled happily and sat, picking it up and glancing at the name written on it. She expected to see either hers (since he bought it for her) or Mic's, since he had picked it up. The cup had a little heart drawn on it and "<i>Elly Yamada</i>" doodled on it in fanciful script.

She almost dropped the cup.

Then she noticed there was a croissant wrapped up beside it. Stuck underneath was an envelope, which she opened with shaking hands.

<i>I dream about this day, when you and I not only share a home but a name as well ♡</i>

<b>7:05 A.M</b>
<i>Texting a thank you that turns into cuteness overload</i>.

<b>Cheshire</b>: <i>Aww you made me cry! I love you so much ♡ thank you</i>

<b>Mic</b>: <i>Oh no! No tears!</i>

<b>Mic</b>: <i>Mikey sowwy :c</i>

Elly stifled a girlish giggle. When he started talking like this he knew she thought it was sickeningly adorable. The photo he sent next was him with his forefingers pressed together, blushing and biting his lip. He had pushed his glasses down so she could clearly see his over exaggerated pout.

<b>Mic</b>: <i>but...</i>

<b>Mic</b>: <i>Mikey's babygirl is so pwecious it hurts his widdle heart</i>

<b>Cheshire</b>: <i>Quit it! You know what that does to me XD</i>

<b>Mic</b>: <i>awww</i>

<b>Mic</b>: <i>I'll behave ♡</i>

<b>Mic</b>: <i>Unless you'd rather I not >:)</i>

<b>8:00 A.M</b>
<i>An unexpected gift</i>.

Elly was flipping through her files and paperwork for the day when she noticed a long, thin tube was part of the daily packet on her desk. She rolled the rubber band off and unfurled a decent sized poster of a beautiful night sky in a heart shape. The sky was a rich purple and blue, with all the constellations highlighted.

Puzzled, she saw a date written below and thought back to what it could mean.

When she realized what it was she teared up once more. It was an image of the heavens taken on their first date.

This time she didn't text him; she walked over to his classroom and tapped lightly on the door. His first class of the day was 1-A, and she knew the kids here a little more than the rest of the student body. She didn't want to embarrass them with the sight of their teachers schmoozing in front of them, so she waved Mic into the hallway.

He got up, grinning hugely and motioning for the teenagers to keep working.

"What are you doing, sweetie? I'm dying here - the star chart was beautiful." She hugged him a little harder than usual.

"Aw. It's nothin', I mean... that was the only way I could think of to give you the stars. And the stars were the only thing precious enough that I wanted to give 'em to you."

Elly bit her lip and hid her face in his chest, her knees weakening so much he hastily swept her into his arms. He sighed happily as she struggled to control her emotions, a softly mewing bundle with her tail dangling limply down.

There was the click of a door opening in the otherwise quiet hall and Mic looked up to see the dark haired Midnight tapping a finger on her lips. She winked at him and then shrugged as if to say she accepted her loss. She didn't look particularly upset about it, though.

He stuck his tongue out at her.
