Class Reunion (Zashi)

"Ughhh, sweetie. This is the main reason I didn't wanna go to this class reunion." Elly groaned and rubbed at her eyes with a shaky hand. "Virginia is getting on my nerves. She bullied me all through school and just had to always show off how everything she owned was better than everyone else." She paused. "Well, she lost this time. I love you more than anything, sweetie. You're the best."

Hizashi blushed. "Aww, baby. Cute." He kissed her on the nose. "But I got an idea." He chuckled evilly. "Gimme a few, I'll be right back."

The woman known as Virginia continued to parade her hero husband around, clearly proud that no one else had married one. Elly winced when she started mentioning where he worked, knowing it was a glorified desk job and he hadn't been on patrol in ages. No one seemed to care that Elly was a pro herself - especially as she wasn't rubbing it in anyone's faces. No, they probably forgot...

...a fact Hizashi was about to remind them.

A quarter of an hour later he texted her that he was about to come back and to 'get ready', whatever that meant. She perked her ears up when the doors banged open with unnecessary force to reveal her boyfriend dressed in full hero garb and cranked up to way past eleven.

Elly burst out laughing as he shouted, "Hey, hey, look alive in here!"

Virginia looked like she had swallowed a bug, since this stole the attention away from her mediocre pro hero hubby. The worst was yet to come, however, as he waved to everyone in the moment they were all staring, stunned, and walked over to his girlfriend.

"I think they need a little wake me up, huh, babe?" He pulled back her chair and wrapped her in a tight embrace.

"Mikey, you dork," she scolded him gently. "What do you have in mind?"

"Wellll... I'm'a go drop some beats, then get ready for a surprise!"

One of the women at the table next to them leaned over as he bounded off to talk to the DJ.

"Wait, so he was ... your boyfriend is -?"

"Present Mic. Yep." Elly smiled. "We thought we would both forgo the hero costumes, but I guess he wanted to let you all know."

"Oh, my goodness," the woman choked. "You're a pro, too, aren't you? Why - why wasn't that mentioned anywhere?"

"If I had to guess, it's because this school sucks. Virginia probably paid a great deal of money to downplay my success so her marrying a desk-level entry hero looked better." Elly said this with a great big smile on her face. It was as if a gigantic burden had been finally eased off her shoulders. And, of course, who had helped her remove it? The most wonderful, supportive and loving man of her life.

Who was currently mixing two popular songs of their day into a bass-heavy masterpiece. She giggled, clapping a hand to her mouth.

"Hey, just habit. Can't help it when there's music! I'm here as a guest tonight - y'all might've been introduced to me as Elly's boyfriend. We met when she came over in her own pro capacity to teach at U.A."

Many others were nodding and talking animatedly amongst themselves now. There was a fact that had been very well glossed over. Someone from their class was a pro hero and working at the most prestigious school.

Virginia looked about ready to explode, but then her husband patted her hand a bit shame-facedly and murmured in her ear. She relaxed a little, smugly staring at her wedding band which she thrust out in front of her. The implication was obvious - she married her pro hero. Elly would probably break up with hers.

This little play acting was lost on Mic, who didn't even see it but in a generous blast of righteous karma pulled out a small box and held out his hand on the stage.

"Hey, baby, come up here. I got something to say."

Several ladies squealed, guessing what was about to happen. Clueless, Elly wandered over and he helped her up to stand beside him on stage.

"What are you doing, Zashi?"

"Trust me." He winked at her and held out the box, coughing lightly. Her eyes widened, and she gasped when he popped it open, revealing the engagement ring inside. She was even more surprised when he rapped a little lyrical proposal about how he couldn't live without her, concluding with the usual question.

"I love you more'n anything, princess. Will you marry me?"

She nodded furiously, tears rolling down her face.

No one saw the school bully as she stormed out of the venue, husband in tow. He glanced back once and grinned at the couple, however. It was nice to see true love as it flourished in a stable relationship. He got the feeling those two would be together forever.
