Best of both worlds 16

Elly smiled and wiped her brow with a tissue off the dressing table. The music from the club was thumping crazily all around her and she could still hear the cheers from the crowd following her last number. She was exhausted but happy, ready to go back home to her new apartment and cook some dinner.

She grabbed her bag and left the back, nodding to a few of the staff on the way. As she exited the back door, however, she was stopped by a pair of large men.

"Hey, guys," she waved. "Just going home. Excuse me."

"Aww, already? Don't you want to stay and party with us?"

"Yeah, we heard you sing and all. Good shit."

"Sorry, guys." She flicked her ears back. "I'm tired and taken, actually."

"Really? You sure you don't want to get a few drinks?"

"No. I'm meeting my boyfriend here before I leave. You probably don't want to anger him."

"Oh?" The largest guy rumbled laughter. "What, is he a huge dude, bigger than us?"

"Taller, yes. Also, he's a Pro Hero. Now ... one last chance. Move." Her eyes looked off into the distance and a tiny smile touched her lips.

The guy had been staring at her bag and burst out laughing. "Yeah, right! Y'got a crush on that dipshit and you're trying to drop his name to -"

"Hey hey, babygirl." A familiar voice interrupted the guy's tirade. "You okay? These guys botherin' ya?"

All three turned around in unison to come face to face with Present Mic, fully dressed in his hero outfit and ready for work at the club. They stared, stunned.

"Hi, sweetie." Elly pushed past and ducked under his arm for a hug. "Yeah, you know. They're quite the enthusiastic fans of my singing."

"Oh, yeah?" He raised one eyebrow, his face taking on an evil cast with one swirling eye huge and the other squinting. "That's cool. I guess yer leaving now though, right guys?"

They nodded, though the one that had called him a dipshit paused for a second before shaking his head and angrily stomping down the street.

"Phew. Thanks, Mikey."

"Babe, I'm startin' to worry boutcha walkin' home by yourself." They opened the back door and slipped inside.

"I know. I talked to the owner about syncing up our schedules so we could have more time together, anyway."

"Ooh! What'd he say?"

"What, is he going to refuse a hero? It was your clout, not mine, that did it... but he did agree."

"Yee!" He grabbed her and kissed her full on the mouth. "Mnn, hey now. How about you stay here for my set, it's only a small one tonight. Then we can go home together."

"Yours or mine?" She asked archly.

"Doesn't matter, as long as we're together babe."

She smiled. "Perfectly spoken."
