The End of 2020

"Oh god, oh god, ohhh my god." Elly was curled up on her bed in a tight ball, the words more a chant than anything that made sense. When Aizawa stuck his head into her room as per Nezu's request he see what was wrong, he couldn't make out what she was saying at all.

He stepped inside quickly, eyes scanning the area and immediately on high alert. "Cheshire? Are you all right?" A faint miaow from the bed raised his awareness further. If she were okay, she would have answered him in human speech. "Has there been an attack?" There were no signs, but safer to ask.

"No."

He stood next to the bed and gently tugged the sheet back that covered her. "When you didn't show for the party, Nezu sent me to see if you were all right."

"Sorry."

The sheet snagged and he swore, yanking it with more force and exposing the counselor in a pair of sweatpants and a soft t-shirt, her eyes red from crying and her hair splayed out on the pillow.

"You're upset." Aizawa whipped around in panic. "Perhaps I should get the nurse - or a, uh, another woman..."

Elly stiffened and started to cry again. His shoulders slumped and he gave in, walking closer and laying a hand on her heaving shoulder. It wasn't that he didn't know what to do, it was that he was afraid of screwing up. He'd tried to comfort Eri and failed miserably multiple times, after all. He didn't want to screw up here and possibly make things worse.

Aizawa sat on the bed beside her. She scooted away and he frowned, then swung his legs up and curled close, wrapping his arms around her to pull her into the warmth of his chest.

"It's okay," he murmured.

She met his enigmatic gaze with her own, overflowing with tears and lower lip trembling. "Eraser..."

"Ah, it's after school hours. You can call me by name." His voice was low and soft, meant to soothe.

Elly sniffled and buried her face in his capture weapon, smiling despite herself when bits of it slithered up to wipe her tears away. "I'm sorry, 'Zawa," she sighed. "It's... just me. I'm broken."

He shrugged. "Nobody's perfect."

"But I shouldn't do this. I'm so embarrassed."

"Over what? Everyone gets overwhelmed sometimes. And we've had a pretty fucked up year." He scratched at the scruff on his chin in thought. "We came through, though. It might get worse before it gets better, but as long as we try, it'll get better."

Her ears slowly perked up and he rubbed them absently, his rough fingertips lingering on the velvety fur. She snuggled closer, purring, and curled her long, striped tail around him as well. Aizawa paused when he felt it and blinked a little, startled.

"You know," he murmured, "we don't have to go down. I can text Nezu that you're fine." He brought out his phone and raised an eyebrow in silent question to her.

Elly nodded right away. "Yes. Please stay with me. If it's okay."

Eri was staying at the student dormitory for the night and the party downstairs was too raucous for his taste. He quickly texted their boss and set the phone aside. The moment he did, his eyes widened in surprise as she grabbed a handful of his capture weapon and pulled him into a passionate kiss. His eyes slipped closed after a moment, however, and his hands became very busy. They ducked under the sheets, two writhing lumps underneath erupting in bursts of discarded clothing.

Meanwhile, the party downstairs in full swing, and there was only ten minutes or so until New Years when Aizawa first went to check on her.

Thus the countdown from downstairs as the staff shouted together perfectly drowned Elly out as she screamed the homeroom teacher's given name in passion. Everything would have been fine afterward, except he hadn't factored in <i>his</i> cry. This was unexpectedly loud and may have contained a declaration of love; he wasn't sure. He just knew they were fucked - in a very different way -- when he drifted back to reality.

He was right.

Nezu turned blue in terror as the group heard him. "Oh, my. Aizawa."

"Holy shit, is it a villain attack?!" Hizashi jumped to his feet, stumbling forward.

"<i>That's</i> not a scream of pain!" Kayama laughed out loud. "Woo-hoo, <i>girl</i>! Rock his world!"

The blond man stuttered and looked at first pale, then bright red as he registered what was going on. "Oh, <i>eurgh</i> - shit! Gross!"

"What are you, five?"

"I'm with Mic," Snipe muttered from the couch behind them. "Didn't need t'hear that, thanks."

Varying opinions floated around the room as now a complete silence stretched awkwardly out above them.

"I think it's sweet."

"I, uh, didn't peg him for a screamer."

Kayama was just about to gleefully make a comment about <i>pegging</i> when the new couple emerged shyly at the foot of the stairs holding hands.

Aizawa held one hand up, his expression fierce. The muscles in his jaw were rippling as he set himself, eyes bleary and tousled hair stirring faintly about his shoulders. "No," he said very firmly. "No one is to comment about this ...<i>incident</i>, or else."

Kayama pursed her lips. "Is that a threat, Aizawa?"

"Nobody wants to remember it," Snipe told him in disgust. "Trust me."

"Hey, are you always a screamer or was the sex that good?" Kayama, of course, feared nothing when it came to the affairs of the bedroom. She glanced around as the people on either side of her started to edge away. "What? What're you all... oh."

Aizawa's hair was all the way up, his eyes burning bright and his capture weapon writhing with his emotions like a bunch of pissed off snakes.

Elly leaned over and spoke in his ear, her cheeks burning at the amount of eyes on them. Whatever she said must have worked, for the weapon settled down with his hair and the scruffy man huffed and looked to the side. "Fine. Yes."

"We're sorry to have disturbed you all," she apologized in a clear voice. "It's... embarrassing, but it won't happen again. He was consoling me after a bout of depression and we discovered that we're a couple." She shrugged, as if to say, <i>who knew</i>?

"Happy New Year's," Aizawa added somewhat sourly.
