New Year's Resolution 2021

Streamers dangled all around the common room and noisemakers were being blown, their farty noises humorous to everyone who heard them. The staff at U.A. wore sparkly hats and some even had silly glasses on to celebrate the end of the year.

Elly, however, was standing alone in a corner of the room while the party raged on around her.

"Go see if she's okay, Yamada." Kayama nudged him with an elbow. She wasn't particularly gentle about it, either - he winced and grabbed his side.

"Heyyyy! Watch the merchandise."

"Go!"

Muttering curses about wicked women that ordered guys around, he wandered over to where the counselor stood staring morosely out a window at the twinkling stars.

"You all right, Ches?" He stood close by but not so much that she might feel he was in her space.

"Yeah," she shrugged.

"Well, I dunno. You seem bummed, 'cause even Aizawa is partying harder than you." He pointed to the couch where the scruffy teacher had passed out. He was decorated in so much confetti and novelty items at this point he looked like a party store had thrown up on him.

Elly shook her head with a rueful smile. "I just don't feel good tonight. Sorry."

"Nah, I don't blame ya. It's been a craptastic year." Hizadhi scratched his head, frowning. "You, uh, wanna start the new one off right?"

Her ears flicked up and she regarded him warily. "What..?"

"What?" He matched her intonation almost perfectly.

"No, really. What do you mean?"

"I like you." His green-gold eyes widened and he tapped his red shirt over his heart so hard his necklaces bounced. "I've been hittin' on you all year! Don't tell me ya didn't notice."

Her mouth dropped open in surprise for a moment before she found the courage to speak. "I thought you were teasing me!"

"Hwhaaa?!"

"You never asked me out!"

"We went out tons a' times!"

Elly huffed in exasperation, her tail waving around behind her. "Yeah, with other people. Sure, later on it might've only been you, me and Aizawa but that's not a serious date."

"Huh." He shook his head, thinking so hard his short brows drew his forehead into a point. "So yer right. Okay. How about we get some drinks and sit on the couch, then? My New Year's resolution is gonna be to finally make you mine." He took her hand in his.

"Drinks would be good," she admitted.

Hizashi led her to the row of plastic champagne flutes and only then did he release her hand since he needed two to pour properly.

The others started talking about them right away.

"Awww, he's all bark and no bite... aroof!"

"I'm inclined to believe you. Yamada's never made a real move, so why now?"

The blond man glared at his colleagues, a determined expression firming his brow. Intrigued, Elly followed him as he picked up the two glasses of fizzy drink and strode over to the middle of the room.

"A'ight." Hizashi put their glasses on an end table and sat on one end of the huge couch, sliding down and propping his leg up on the coffee table. He squinted at her and grinned wickedly, croaking a finger in a come-hither gesture as he picked up a glass. "C'mere, baby," he crooned. "They wanna make fun of us, they're gonna get more than they signed up for."

Her heart beat fast at his blatant flirting. Then, all at once she decided to hell with it and nestled in his lap defiantly. "Okay, Voice Hero. You're always running your mouth. Let's see what happens when I take you up on your offer." She picked the glass neatly out his fingers and sipped calmly despite her entire body tingling with excitement being this close to him.

Hizashi's grin grew wider. "Holy shit," he breathed.

They polished off their drinks while appreciating just how hard - and soft -- each other's bodies were in various places. Hizashi couldn't resist squeezing a few times, and got away with an outrageous amount of naughtiness.

They were oblivious to the party until the crowd gathered around to count backwards to the new year.

"Ten!"

The countdown continued and he slid his hand along her jaw, caressing the side of her face and pulling her closer. He made eye contact and tapped his lips with one finger, eyebrows raised hopefully.

Elly was pleasantly buzzed from the alcohol and done with tiptoeing around. She bent to him just as the count finished and everyone cheered. Their lips touched and she pressed forward eagerly, relishing the feeling of his fuzzy, pointed mustache on her skin.

When they parted he had the biggest grin she'd ever seen on his face. "Hey," he whispered, his voice throbbing with the use of his quirk. "Happy New Year, baby."
