Temptation 17

The ladies at the clinic that had been there when Elly was first brought in had talked almost excessively about the man she'd come in with last time. But the sun was setting as her next appointment struck and it was Shota, not Hizashi, who helped her through the door to the clinic.

The young man behind the counter blinked in surprise to see the ruggedly handsome demon instead of the blond man they had assumed would come in again with her. Elly was in much better control of herself this day, and filled out her own paperwork. Shota sat in a chair beside her in the waiting room, swinging his foot to the music coming through the speakers and scrolling through his phone. When her name was called he smiled and kissed her briefly on the cheek.

"Good luck."

The nurses and aides behind the door really wanted to ask about him, but there was no professional way they could. They x-rayed her ankle and the doctor declared her healed, so she went back to a small room to get the cast removed. The nurse that was sent to complete this task was one of those that had been there the first night, and she was pleasant enough as she cut through the thick material. Elly could tell there was something on her mind, though, and she thought she knew what.

She didn't really know what to say, however. She liked both men, but that wasn't acceptable in society - there wasn't an easy way to say, 'oh yes, those are my two boyfriends'. And as she thought about it, she wasn't sure they saw themselves that way, either.

She left happy that the cast was off but worried about how others were starting to see her.

Shota sensed this, yet he was careful not to bring up the topic. They drove in amiable enough silence back home and he carried her crutches inside to toss in the hall closet.

"We're home," she called out, but no one answered. "Huh. Looks like we're alone."

Shota muttered a curse as the crutches fell inside the closet. "Damn it."

"Oh, thank god those're gone." She was still careful to go slow, as the newly-healed ankle was weak, but it was much better than shoving those rubber pads painfully under her arms.

"No more pain meds, either," Shota said happily. "They really made it difficult for you to think."

"Uh huh." She fell haphazardly onto the couch with a huge sigh of relief. He grinned and followed her, picking her up enough to drape her across his chest. "This is nice after such a busy day."

"Mmn hmm. You need to relax."

"Shota!" She gasped, sucking in a huge lungful of air as he embraced her, rolling her so that she faced him. "Hizashi could be back at any minute!"

"Mnn, but he's gone at the moment, isn't he?" He whispered in her ear, nibbling at the pink shell. "I can smell your arousal, love. I could all day. You definitely <i>like</i> seeing me dressed like this."

Elly squirmed around in his lap. "Okay, okay. The suit looks really good on you. Your hair, too -" She reached up and toyed with the ends sticking out of the bun. "It's sexy."

He shivered, growling deep in his throat. "<i>Yes</i>. Do you want me to undo the tie a bit? Maybe a few of the buttons here on my shirt..." He artfully made himself look ever-so-slightly disheveled, as if he'd been working hard for many hours.

"Um. Where did Zashi go, anyway?"

"Does it matter? I think he's doing some grocery shopping." He kissed her neck and throat, humming seductively. "If you're worried about him seeing us, we could always go in the bedroom."

She let out a soft sigh as his fingers ticklishly stroked her arms. "If we did, would you think you were going to do whatever you like?"

"It's up to you, mistress. You control how far we go, not me." He kissed her again. "You just need to set the rules again. You know I can't cross your orders once they're laid out."

"It's very hard to think when you're doing that," she said somewhat tartly.

Shota chuckled and leaned back, raising his hands in a passive gesture. "Okay. Now?"

His attitude earlier, the embarrassment and his fierce protective nature while they were at the law firm had impressed her. He'd confessed his love, though indirectly, and she had no real reason to doubt him except for his nature. But even that had its benefits...

"First, tell me the truth about how you feel about me."

The demon cleared his throat and managed to look uncertain, slightly afraid and proud all at once. "I <i>love</i> you, mistress," he told her simply.

Elly felt tears pricking her eyes and she closed them with a trembly sigh. "If Hizashi gets back you have to stop right away."

Shota's charcoal gray eyes lit up from within, a spark of red showing in each dark pupil. "Is that the <i>only</i> limit then, my mistress?"

"I - if I say stop, you will, right?"

He nodded quickly. "How about this. If you need me to stop immediately, you can say 'red'. If you need to pause for anything, say 'yellow'."

"Why not just use stop?"

He grinned, flashing his fangs at her. "You may want to tell me '<i>don't stop</i>', and it's easier this way. The colors wouldn't come up otherwise. 'Stop' might, but mean something else."

"Oh."

"They're called 'safe words' for a very good reason."

"All right," she decided abruptly. "Take me into the bedroom, Sho."

"As my mistress commands," he murmured with a quirk of his lips.
