Wonderland - 8

Shota/Els

_

Aizawa and Elly met the next day in the teacher's lounge before classes began to discuss something very important. After the other night she had texted him about her fears and he was calming her as best he could.

"But, Eraser, I only have a three month work visa and I've been here one already."

His eyes held hers. "I've researched how long your stay can be extended. If we can successfully petition the board to hire you, it can be almost indefinite."

Elly breathed easier. "I knew you would look into things," she sighed in relief. "It's just ... you have so many good people here. This is the best school out there. Why would UA want me?"

Aizawa scoffed. "You're invaluable." He saw the twinkle in her eyes and suddenly and completely turned bright red. "I mean as a teaching asset - "

"Not to you?" She sidled up to him, nuzzling under his chin.

"Ah, damn it, Ches." He scowled, wrapping his arms around her.

"Struck a nerve there, didn't I?"

He scowled harder but also tightened his grip, pulling her as close to him as possible. "Shut up." He kissed her lingeringly, taking his time since there was no one here yet. Unfortunately someone had come in early today.

"Awww, cute." Present Mic stood in the doorway, arms folded as he took in the scene before him. "You two look so lovey dovey together." Aizawa broke the kiss to glare at him but he went on, undeterred. "Hey - I should take a picture for the yearbook!"

"Put that phone down, Yamada, or I'll mute you for a week." She couldn't see his eyes from her position but his hair was standing up.

"I'm not entirely sure he's joking, Mic."

"He's not." The Voice Hero jammed his cell phone back in his jacket. "That's his ultimatum face."

Elly pulled back so she could take a look. "Mmm... sorry, it just looks like his serious face to me."

"Nah, you're confusing it with the 'stern teacher' face."

"Not the 'determined hero' one?"

"They're similar."

Aizawa sighed deeply. "Please. I surrender. Just stop."

Elly giggled and kissed him on the cheek, eliciting a grumble from the grumpy man. "Knowing you, how much paperwork did you already finish?"

"Almost all of it. I need only the support of my colleagues to back the forms."

"What? What's this?" Mic had wandered over and was staring curiously at the folders his friend had in his hand.

"Cheshire can't stay longer than three months on her current work visa." He lifted a piece of paper from the stack. "This is to convince the board to hire her at UA."

"Then she can stay?"

"Much longer," she agreed happily.

Aizawa thrust the form in Mic's hands. "Here. Get as many teacher's signatures as you can on that."

"That's a good idea."

"Great. Now get out."

"You guys gonna smooch some more?" He laughed and scooted out before the homeroom teacher could respond.

"He makes a good point, though." Aizawa unwrapped his arms from about her and stood. "We need to get to work."

Aizawa got through his first class easily enough. It wasn't a big day for them like so many had been before. He handed out some pamphlets for them to look over and busied himself in his own problems. This worried the students, as they expected him to zip himself up in his sleeping bag and tuck himself under his desk. He was so involved that he didn't hear the bell ring until someone was clearing his throat beside him.

"Mr. Aizawa?"

He sighed dismally and turned to face the person addressing him. Knowing who it was, he thought he was probably in for it.

"What is it, problem child?"

Midoriya wrinkled his brow. He pointed at his teacher's hand, which held his cell phone. "Isn't that Ms. Cheshire's school website?"

Aizawa flipped the phone over and gave him the most deadpan look he possibly could. "No. Class is over. You had better get to Present Mic's before you are late." He paused. "Again."

"I was just thinking," the green haired teen went on, ignoring him. "Ms. Cheshire comes from there. It's a good school, but they're super competitive with us. They won't let her work here unless they get something out of the deal."

The weary man's left eye twitched. "What." He placed his hand on his desk, his hair rising and eyes glowing ominously red. He very slowly and eerily turned his full gaze on the now-cringing young man. "Did you say?"

Midoriya squeaked. "N - nothing! I only wanted to help!" He fled out the door, clutching his english course book.

Aizawa sank into his chair when he was alone. Unfortunately, the kid was right and he knew it. This wasn't going to be as easy as requesting that she transfer. Logically, the other school was going to want one of their teachers or something of equal value. He knew of nothing in his heart that could be as precious as his girl, but surely his mind would weigh in eventually.
