Blbs 9

Elly sighed quietly to herself as she fastened the velcro on the furry, white tube designed to hide her true tail colors. Aizawa was taking her out for dinner and a movie, and they wanted to blend in. She pulled her short hair back in a kerchief and made sure her ears were tucked away. Once seated, she could remove it, but on the street it would be a helpful guise. Her outfit was simple, a white tank top and jeans with sandals. Sunglasses completed the look, but she pushed them up over her forehead for now as she heard his knocking.

"Baby," she purred happily, throwing her arms around his neck.

Aizawa greeted her with a warm kiss. "You're trying too hard to hide who you are," he teased, tugging on the head wrap.

"Please," she grinned as she locked the door behind them. "You're wearing a baseball cap. I never thought I'd see you with one of those on!"

He grimaced lightly, nodding as he rubbed his stubbled cheek. "Yeah, I kind of had to. The hair, the hat. They've been getting pretty rabid lately."

She knew immediately who he meant by "they".

"Are they bothering you at your new job?"

"Nah. Well, they tried, but my boss just stuck me in the back. I like it. It's quieter." They strolled into the main building and checked out with the guard there. Aizawa slipped his arm around her and gestured. "Time to sneak out, my queen."

She laughed and they hurried to his car. She got inside and tossed an old coat he had on the seat over her, hoping to hide until they were in heavier traffic.

"I'm ready!"

"All right. Here we go."

They thankfully made it to their first destination without any mishap. It was a small Café he sometimes went to when he thought he deserved a treat, situated in his neighborhood close by his home. He pushed the door open and the little bell tinkled, alerting the hostess to new customers.

"Hey, you came back early this time," she said when she saw him. Then her eyes went wide as if she remembered something, and her gaze flickered over to Elly. "Um... oh! Where would you like to sit?"

Elly winked mischievously and pointed at a booth far in the back. "Could we maybe sit at that one?"

"You got it." She led them there and pressed menus into their hands. "Let me know if there's anything we can do for you. Okay?"

He nodded his thanks and she skittered away to hand pick the right server for the job. They ordered, chatted and ate their food with no real rush. Aizawa had informed her that there were several movie theaters around and they would easily be able to find something to watch when they were ready. They even ordered dessert, at his request.

"Hey, this is pretty good." She bit into a fruit-filled crepe.

"Told you." He grinned, reaching out to dab at a corner of her mouth. "Watch it, though. It's messy."

Her lips curved in a sensual smile. "Good thing you're here to be my mirror."

"Oh, yes." He snickered as he sipped from a large cup of coffee. "Glad to be of service." Their server came back and he stopped Elly with a gentle shake of his head when she would have paid. "I want to pay for you tonight. You can get the next time, okay?"

She purred quietly to herself as he paid and made sure to leave a generous tip. "That's a wonderful gesture, Shota. Thank you."

"What, paying for my girlfriend?" He looked confused. "That's kind of a normal thing. How does your inner circle function?"

She frowned, pursing her lips as she thought. "Well... the other person pays if they expect something from you. And, of course, if they're showing off." She made a face. "I never experienced anyone doing it because they wanted to."

He blushed, mumbling under his breath.

"What was that?" Her ears perked.

"I, uh, think I may have treated you better even when I was being an ass," he coughed.

"You might be on to something." Elly laughed.

Aizawa checked his phone. "Hmm. We better get going. There's a movie playing close by that starts in half an hour."

"Sweet."

They were uninterrupted while they got back in his car, and lucky enough that they got all the way into the theater, too.

Once they were seated Elly sighed and removed her kerchief, letting her ears stand freely upright. "Ahhh. Much better."

Aizawa reached up and rubbed them playfully. "Cute," he murmured.

"Hey!"

The movie was a standard superhero plot, junkfood cinema that wasn't really half bad. Yet after the final scene had played out Aizawa yawned.

"Bored?" Elly asked him fondly. They had cuddled outrageously the whole time, not making out like the couples in the back but hanging close together.

"No. Comfortable."

Two girls behind them started chatting as the credits began to roll. Elly would have ignored them, but then she caught her name and placed a hand on Aizawa's arm to keep him seated.

"I still think the guy that plays All Might in these would look cute with Cheshire."

"That was one of her songs in the movie, right?"

"Uh huh."

"They should give her a cameo." The girl on the left then squealed as a thought struck her. She could be his girlfriend in the next movie!"

Aizawa turned around, unable to help himself. "I think she's already taken."

The teens gave him a disgusted look. "Ew. Back off, old man."

Elly decided to have some fun at that point. She also bent to face the girls. Now that the lighting was dim in the theater and the top half of her disguise was removed, it was very clear who she was.

"Old man?" She protested mildly. "I'll have you know my boyfriend is younger than me." She paused, thinking for a moment. "And isn't Toshinori Yagi older than both of us?"

"Yes." Aizawa watched the girls stare with complete incomprehension as their brains registered who she looked like. He chuckled when their mouths dropped open, their eyes growing huge.

Elly placed a finger to her lips before they could alert everyone within a five mile radius of her whereabouts. "Shh, we're incognito! Phones out for a quick selfie, though?"

She grinned and wiggled her ears as they snapped their pics. They even apologized to Aizawa, stammering and barely able to hold themselves back from screaming at their good luck. When she pulled her kerchief back on, he gave her an affectionate kiss on the cheek before they walked out into the lobby.

"You handled that well."

"Practice," she said, buffing her nails on the front of her shirt.

He laughed and slipped an arm low around her waist. "What would you like to do n - oh." Aizawa sighed and spun her about before they reached the front. "Back here, now... there. Excuse me," he called out in a low but commanding voice. A thin, dark-skinned woman wearing a suit was walking the area, checking on on employees.

"What's wrong, babe?"

"I don't think it was those girls, really, but somebody knew we went into this particular theater. Hey, hi," he added as the manager strode up. "I'm not sure how to ask this, but could we sneak out a back or side entrance by any chance?" He jerked a thumb over his shoulder where a group with their cameras and phones at the ready were stationed just outside the front doors. "There's sort of a mob out there out for our photos."

The woman stared at him for a moment and then Elly, who grinned and waved at her. "That shouldn't be a problem," she said, much to their relief. "Here - right this way."

"Thank god," Elly sighed. "Once they latch on, it's hell to shake them loose. We'd never make it back to my place, Sho."

"Thanks," he told the woman as she showed them to a side door.

"Thank you so much," Elly added with a huge smile.

"No problem," she told them. "Next time, give us a heads-up and we'll slip you in and out with no problem."

"What a nice person," Elly murmured.

"Yeah. Now we just have to make it to the car!"

"I'll race you." He spun on his heel and took off.

"<i>What</i>! Hey, you cheater!"

Elly caught up to him as he was fumbling with his door. They laughed as they collapsed into the car seats, breathing hard.

"I won," he gloated, his gray eyes twinkling merrily at her.

"You cheated," she informed him, blowing a soft raspberry to emphasize his cheap win.

"All right, maybe I did. Shouldn't you be in better shape than a washed up reporter, though?"

"Sho baby, you're not washed up in <i>that</i> way. You're not dirty anymore, is all. The ones we left behind, the ones that will do anything for a story... those are the losers. Not you. Not now."

"Shit," he sighed, leaning his head back. "You're really something, aren't you?"
