Valentines 2022 (Zashi)

Passersby stared at the man in the mall when he rushed by them.

It wasn't his haste - in fact, it was more enthusiasm than rudeness he was exuding as he bounced merrily forward.

It wasn't his appearance - no, he definitely wasn't getting attention because of that.

It might have been the fact that not much of him could be seen for the merchandise he was holding. Both his hands were full, bags hanging up his arms and foil balloons tied higher up, bobbing in his wake as he ran. Flowers were included somewhere in there; roses of all colors but predominantly red that cast their sweet scent all around.

Laughing, happy and clearly enjoying himself, the man rushed towards a stage that had been set up in one of Kiyashi Ward's better food courts. There was a huge amount of extra seating and the section was cordoned off with velvet ropes and a few guards. Signs were placed around stating that this was a special event. For a small donation, folks could eat with celebrity couples all around them.

The guards watched him approach with nervous looks, thinking they'd have to deal with an obsessed fan wanting in for free. But when he got closer a leather-gloved hand reached out from the pile and flashed hero identification.

"Present Mic?"

He shoved his face forward, revealing that the shiny, foil balloons were tied to his hair spike. "Yeah! Lemme in, yo! I gotta set up the stage before my girl gets here!" He started dancing around, first on one foot and then the other, his excitement infectious.

The guard on the left laughed and unhooked the rope. "Go on in."

They went back to their job, grateful for the fact that it was less boring now as the Voice Hero made for hilarious entertainment.

The guard that let him in was a large woman that had a quirk enabling her to turn into a fleshy wall. She towered over her colleague, though they were big as well, a hybrid beast of different types.

She watched Mic racing around. "What d'ya think, Morg? Who's he dating?"

They shrugged. "Rumor has it he's been with Cheshire for months."

Susan raised her eyebrows. Mic had tied all the balloons off to stage right and left in two giant bundles. He was currently in the process of giggling like a lunatic while gathering bunches of flowers in his arms to place in vases along the edge. "The Insanity Hero? That seems about right."

Morgan nodded and squared themselves off, shaking their head as a fan tried to enter. "Not without a ticket, luv - and it's not time yet, anyway."

"Aww." The dissapointed fan wandered off.

"Huh." Susan shrugged. "He's got a lot of energy."

"That's how he always is."

"Hey, hey! What do you think?!"

They both jumped as Mic suddenly popped up directly behind them. The stage had been transformed; flowers and balloons framed the front and the DJ booth was set up with a lifesized plush teddy bear wearing his trademark gear and headphones.

The two guards stared at it, impressed.

Morgan whistled. "That's a lot of decorations."

"That's not what I was askin' about," the Voice Hero laughed. He held up his palm and resting on the leather glove was a dark velvet box.

Susan gasped. The ring was gorgeous, not too large or flashy; a delicate white gold piece with small diamonds flanking a yellow and purple stone joined by a heart.

Morgan blinked. "Holy shit, Mic. Are you gonna..?"

"It's beautiful," Susan said softly.

"Aaaaand ...there's my princess!" He snapped the box closed and slipped it in a zippered pocket on his jacket, patting it once before dashing off to hug what looked like absolutely nothing. Mid-hug, however, a figure blossomed into view and the two heroes collapsed over each other, giggling loudly.

"Match made, I'd say," Morgan chuckled.
